Kewell named Australia's best-ever player

Harry Kewell has been named as Australia's greatest-ever footballer at a ceremony in Sydney.

The 33-year-old, who is currently without a club after he left Melbourne Victory last month, topped the poll voted for by fans, players and pundits.

"I'm humbled by the award and very grateful, especially given that the public have had such a say in the final result and the number of great footballers this country has produced over the years," he said.

Kewell, who spent 13 years in England with Leeds United and Liverpool respectively, was also included in a greatest ever Australian team alongside Fulham's Mark Schwarzer, Everton's Tim Cahill and former Leeds teammate Mark Viduka.
