Hartlepool United victorious against Newport County

Hartlepool United get the better of Newport County in League Two.

Strikes from Luke James, Luke Williams and an Andy Sandell's own goal have given Hartlepool United all three points against Newport County in League Two.

David Pipe came close early on for Newport with a 25-yard drive after Rene Howe did well to lay the ball off to him.

Harry Worley then flicked a header over the bar from a Ryan Burge cross.

Burge himself soon had another effort cleared off the line as Newport increased the pressure.

It was Hartlepool who went in front, however, when James put Hartlepool in front five minutes before the break.

They doubled their lead after the restart when Sandell put the ball into his own net following confusion from a corner.

Luke Williams then sealed the win by adding a third for Hartlepool just before the game ended.
