Michael Mancienne rules out Premier League return

Mancienne rules out Premier League return

Hamburger SV's Michael Mancienne has ruled out a return to the Premier League in the near future.

The former Chelsea defender has been linked with a move back to his homeland to improve his chances of breaking into the England squad, but Mancienne insists that he is happy in Germany.

"I'm really settled here. I haven't thought about moving or coming back to England. I'm really enjoying my time here," he told talkSPORT.

"I am happy staying at Hamburg at the moment to be honest. I haven't thought about leaving."

Mancienne went on to say that he is hoping to attract the attention of England coach Roy Hodgson by helping Hamburg secure European football next season.

"It can feel like [I'm out of sight]. You have to be playing Europa League or Champions League to really get recognition," he added.

"That's a key thing and that's what Hamburg is aiming for this year. We've got a good chance of getting in the Europa League.

"But I think you are playing well then I think you should still be in the public eye and they should still be watching you. I don't think you should drop off the radar [if you play abroad]."

Mancienne has earned England caps between Under-16 and Under-21 level, but is yet to receive a senior call-up.
