Marcello Lippi announces retirement from management

World Cup-winning manager Marcello Lippi retires from coaching to take over as the technical director of Chinese side Guangzhou Evergrande.

Former Italy coach Marcello Lippi has announced his retirement from football management.

The 66-year-old will now become the technical director of Guangzhou Evergrande, after guiding the Chinese club to three successive league titles.

"I don't want to coach any more, as I'm too old for it now," Lippi told reporters. "Guangzhou Evergrande will have a new coach next season.

"I will continue to follow the staff in the role of technical director."

Lippi won five Serie A titles and the Champions League during his time at Juventus and guided Italy to victory at the 2006 World Cup.
