Team News: Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira out of Germany starting XI for Sweden clash

Ozil, Khedira out of Germany XI

Mesut Ozil and Sami Khedira have been left out of Germany's starting XI for their World Cup Group F clash with Sweden at Sochi's Fisht Olympic Stadium.

Both players were widely criticised for their performances in the world champions' shock 1-0 loss to Mexico in their first game of the tournament.

Ozil had played every game for Germany in major competitions since the start of the 2010 World Cup, for a total of 26 matches in a row.

Joachim Low has made four changes in total, with Marvin Plattenhardt and the injured Mats Hummels dropping out of the starting lineup.

Marco Reus, Sebastian Rudy, Jonas Hector and Antonio Rudiger are the players who come in as Germany seek to keep their last-16 hopes alive.

Sweden, meanwhile, have made just the one change from their 1-0 win over South Korea last time out.

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof comes in for Leeds United centre-back Pontus Jansson.

Germany: Neuer; Kimmich, Boateng, Rudiger, Hector; Rudy, Kroos; Reus, Muller, Draxler; Werner Subs: Plattenhardt, Ginter, Hummels, Khedira, Ozil, Trapp, Goretzka, Sule, Brandt, Gundogan, Ter Stegen, Gomez

Sweden: Olsen; Lustig, Lindelof, Granqvist, Augustinsson; Claesson, Larsson, Ekdal, Forsberg; Toivonen, Berg Subs: Olsson, Guidetti, Johnsson, Svensson, Helander, Hiljemark, Krafth, Jansson, Rohden, Durmaz, Thelin, Nordfeldt
