Switzerland forward Admir Mehmedi has said that his side's 5-3 win over their German counterparts was "a step in the right direction".
Mehmedi, whose side will not take part in Euro 2012, insists that he and his teammates were still motivated going into the match after hearing that the Swiss national side had not beaten the Germans since 1956.
"We knew that before the match," he told Goal.com. "We were so motivated going into this game.
"The goal is a beautiful experience for me. For our team the win is a step in the right direction."
Meanwhile, Mehmedi and Switzerland take on Romania in midweek.
