Genoa defender Alassane Tambe has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks with a fractured ankle.
The 23-year-old suffered the problem during the club's first training session of pre-season.
Former France Under-20 international Tambe is due to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Genoa finished last season in sixth place in the Serie A table, 10 points adrift of the top three.
