Alex McLeish to leave Genk at end of season

Former Aston Villa and Rangers manager Alex McLeish has confirmed that he will leave Genk at the end of the season.

McLeish joined the Belgian Pro League club in August and has led them to sixth with four matches remaining, but he has opened up a possible return to British football.

"I have decided that I won't renew my contract when it expires at the end of the season. I've been revitalised with this challenge and I am proud to have worked with a group of players who have improved mentally, tactically and technically," McLeish told the club's official website.

"I am proud that we have achieved a 46% win rate this season and with 49 points, we have amassed 4 more points than at this stage last season."

McLeish may now be linked with a return to Rangers should Stuart McCall not be offered a new contract.
