Fulham and Bournemouth are reportedly ready to do battle in a bid to sign Hellas Verona defender Pawel Dawidowicz.

Fulham and Bournemouth are both reportedly interested in signing Hellas Verona defender Pawel Dawidowicz.

After earning promotion from the Championship last season, the Cottagers and Cherries were delighted with their starts to the new Premier League campaign last weekend.

After Fulham had earned a 2-2 draw with last season's runners-up Liverpool, Bournemouth posted a 2-0 victory at home to Aston Villa.

However, Marco Silva and Scott Parker remain keen to strengthen their respective squads before the end of the summer transfer window.

That particularly rings true in defence with both head coaches seeing their respective options in that area of the pitch weaken over the summer.

According to Football Insider, that has led to each side taking an interest in signing Dawidowicz over the coming weeks.

The 27-year-old has spent the last three seasons at Verona, making a total of 100 appearances in all competitions and earning recognition on the international stage with Poland.

Dawidowicz has earned a total of eight caps for his country with one of his outings coming in the 1-1 draw with England last September.

Verona remain in a strong position with regards to Dawidowicz's future with the defensive-minded player still having three years remaining on his contract.

Nevertheless, it is suggested that Silva and Parker are both ready to make approaches for a player who can also deputise in the centre of midfield.

Fulham completed the signing of Issa Diop from West Ham United earlier this week, but Silva is keen to bring in at least one more fresh face for that area of the pitch.

The same applies to Bournemouth, who have pulled off somewhat of a coup in winning the race to sign Argentina international Marcos Senesi from Feyenoord.

However, a proposed move for Liverpool defender and former loanee Nat Phillips is now in doubt with Ibrahima Konate having suffered a knee injury.
