Real Madrid's Karim Benzema snubs chance to rejoin France squad?

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has reportedly turned down the chance to rejoin France for the World Cup final.

The 34-year-old was included in Didier Deschamps's squad for the World Cup in Qatar, but he picked up a thigh injury on the eve of the tournament.

As a result, he flew back to Spain to begin his recovery, and he is now believed to be back in full training with Real Madrid.

In his absence, France have managed to reach a second straight World Cup final after beating Morocco in the last four on Wednesday.

With the defending champions set to face Argentina in Sunday's final, there has been speculation that Benzema could return to Qatar to be involved in some capacity.

Although Real Madrid would allow him to rejoin his national side, according to Relevo, Benzema has turned down the opportunity to link up with the France squad.

Despite deciding to remain in Madrid, Benzema would be eligible to collect a winners' medal if France lift the trophy on Sunday.
