Patrice Evra replaces Layvin Kurzawa in France squad

Patrice Evra called into France squad

Patrice Evra has been called into the France squad as a replacement for the injured Layvin Kurzawa.

The Juventus full-back started every game for France at Euro 2016, but has not represented his country since.

Evra was again left out of the initial squad to take on Sweden and Ivory Coast this month, but a groin injury to Paris Saint-Germain defender Kurzawa has seen the 35-year-old handed a late call-up.

"I recalled him due to Layvin's injury because he has the experience of a high level – he is playing at Juventus. If he is here, he is likely to play, just like the others. There is time by Friday," France boss Didier Deschamps told reporters.

France will face Sweden in a 2018 World Cup qualifier on Friday night, before taking on Ivory Coast in an international friendly four days later.
