Scottish League One roundup: Forfar earn late draw to stay top

Sports Mole rounds up the results in Scottish League One as Forfar remain top after drawing at Ayr United.

Forfar have stayed at the top of Scottish League One thanks to a late equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw away to Ayr.

Lewis Allan put Athletic ahead before goals from Craig Moore and Alan Forrest gave Ayr United the lead. However, a goal from Michael Travis in stoppage time saved Forfar, who remain in first place on ten points.

Dunfermline closed the gap on Forfar to just a point after beating Stranraer 3-1 at East End Park. Fayssal El-Bakhtaoui, Jason Talbot and Andrew Geggan were all on the scoresheet before Jamie Longworth managed to salvage some pride for the Blues.

Brechin City remain bottom without a point after losing 3-1 away at Albion Rovers. Ross Dunlop put Albion ahead before Craig Johnston replied from the spot for lowly Brechin.

However, goals either side of half-time from John Gemmell and Andrew Barrowman killed the game off despite a late red card for Albion midfielder Kyle Turnbull.

A six-goal thriller entertained fans at Ochilview Park as Stenhousemuir won 4-2 against Cowdenbeath. Goals from Colin McMenamin, Liam Henderson, Allan Smith and Alan Cook won the game against the 10-men of Cowdenbeath, who saw John Armstrong sent off.

In the last game, Airdrieonians managed a 1-0 win against Peterhead, thanks to a strike from Jamie Bain on 70 minutes.

Results in full: Airdrieonians 1-0 Peterhead (0-0), Albion Rovers 3-1 Brechin City (2-1), Ayr United 2-2 Forfar Athletic (1-1), Dunfermline 3-1 Stranraer (2-0), Stenhousemuir 4-2 Cowdenbeath (2-0).
