No surgery required for Rossi

Serie A side Fiorentina have revealed that injured striker Giuseppe Rossi will not require an operation to repair his anterior cruciate ligament, which he hurt earlier in the month.

The news means that the player will continue his rehabilitation under the initial two- to three-month prognosis and is likely to be fit for Italy's World Cup campaign.

"Giuseppe Rossi has just finished his tests with Professor Richard Steadman who has seen good progress in the recently injured knee," the club said in a statement released to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

"The athlete will follow a course of rehabilitation for another two months and will have tests before moving on to training ground rehabilitation."

Rossi was injured during Viola's 1-0 win over Livorno.
