Can Leicester City avoid the drop?

This Premier League season must go down as one of the closest run things ever where the relegation battle is concerned. At the time of writing, it's fair to say that around eight teams are involved in attempting to stay clear of the division's last three places, and Leicester City, believe it or not, are one of those sides. Anyone reviewing betting on Premier League relegation at the start of the season will more than likely not have considered Leicester City to be one of the teams at the wrong end of the table, especially when they had Brendan Rodgers as manager and good players in their ranks like James Maddison, but fast forward to the present day and the former has been axed, and Dean Smith is trying to keep the Foxes up. After an expected reverse away at Man City during his first game in charge, Smith, who is flanked by former Leicester coach and manager Craig Shakespeare on the touchline, guided his new team from being a goal down against Wolves to pick up a crucial three points after goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and Timothy Castagne. While they are only out of the relegation places on goal difference, with Everton, Nottingham Forest and Southampton below them, there is optimism that the Foxes will find a way. One of the reasons for said optimism is that in the next couple of fixtures, Leicester are facing off against other relegation-threatened teams. And, if the Wolves game is anything to go by, the Foxes have proven they have what it takes to step up to the plate when it really matters to pick up crucial points. While there are matches to come against the likes of Liverpool and Newcastle, it's what Smith's side are capable of when facing off against those where points should be up for grabs. Where the current odds are concerned, Southampton and Nottingham Forest look doomed. And even though the former recently managed to secure a point away at Arsenal, it's difficult to see them being able to overcome a four-point deficit to get their heads above water when so many others above are involved in the same fight. Forest have picked up three points from their last ten games and are winless in ten. So, the writing appears to be on the wall for them, too, as it's victories that are required at this stage. It's the final relegation spot that is up for grabs, so to speak, and Everton are currently in there, and Leicester a place above. But, when the going has got tough, both outfits have proven they can get a point here or three there. Therefore, it could all come down to Leeds United, who have lost their last four, conceding sixteen in the process. If their downward spiral continues, it's questionable whether they can dig themselves out of trouble for a second season running, especially when they're prone to conceding so many goals.
