Roberto Martinez plays down Samuel Eto'o reports

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has denied that Samuel Eto'o is in talks with Italian side Sampdoria.

It has been strongly speculated that the Cameroonian is close to joining the Serie A side on an 18-month deal.

However, Martinez has insisted that there have been no talks between the two clubs.

"I know there has been a lot of speculation, but we haven't been contacted, there have been no conversations about that issue," Martinez told reporters.

"At the moment Samuel is working very well, he is always a very strong influence in the day-to-day work and there is nothing to say really."

Eto'o joined Everton on a free transfer last summer.
