Moyes: 'Anichebe lacks belief'

Everton boss David Moyes has said that striker Victor Anichebe needs to believe in himself in order to become a great player.

Anichebe returned to action after a four-month injury lay-off on New Year's Day, scoring the winner in Everton's 1-0 clash with West Brom.

"Victor has all the attributes to be a really good player. He needs to want it himself," Moyes said.

"If we can get him on the pitch, he is a good boy. He just needs a shake to keep him alive at times. But he has got attributes and we have played him in some big games.

"He does lack belief and needs support. I hope he gets the support from me and the staff here. I think we do give it to him."

Anichebe was banished from the training ground in 2009 after a row with Moyes and assistant Steve Round.
