Ian Snodin: 'Everton desperate for silverware'

Former Everton midfielder Ian Snodin admits that the club 'needs some silverware' following the draw for the Europa League last 32.

Former Everton midfielder Ian Snodin has admitted that the club is desperate for silverware following the draw for the last 32 of the Europa League.

The Toffees will face Young Boys in the opening round of the knockout phase after being pitted against the Swiss side on Monday.

While he insists that Young Boys will give Everton a tough test, Snodin is confident that Roberto Martinez's team will do all that they can to win the competition.

"The quality of European football throughout is difficult," he told Sky Sports News. "There were some big, big clubs in that draw and we're looking forward to it. I'm sure all Evertonians are planning ahead to come out to Switzerland, but overall we're very pleased.

"Spectators have travelled in their thousands to Lille and to Wolfsburg and the club and players are enjoying it, but first and foremost you want to win the competition. Everton need some silverware, it's been a long, long time and we're desperate to win some silverware."

Everton continue their Premier League campaign tonight when they welcome Queens Park Rangers to Goodison Park.
