Jonjo Shelvey is reportedly set to miss out on a place in England's World Cup squad, with Gareth Southgate not even considering the Newcastle United man for Russia.

Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey is reportedly set to miss out on a place in England's World Cup squad.

Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will name his 23-man squad on Wednesday for next month's finals in Russia.

Shelvey has impressed in the middle of the park for the Magpies this season, helping them survive in the Premier League following promotion last year.

According to The Mirror, however, the 26-year-old is not even under consideration for a spot in the squad by Southgate.

The report claims that the England boss is worried about the playmaker's disciplinary record, his temperament, and whether he would be a good tourist.

Shelvey has won six caps for the Three Lions but has not featured for his nation since 2015.
