Chelsea and Brazil's David Luiz: 'England never believe they can win'

Chelsea and Brazil defender David Luiz believes that England should back themselves to win the World Cup next year.

Chelsea and Brazil defender David Luiz has criticised the negative attitude surrounding the England national team.

Due to the Three Lions' recent failure in major tournaments, the overriding feeling is that Roy Hodgson's men will not progress far in next year's World Cup in Brazil.

However, Luiz thinks that England have a chance of success next summer, but they must show more belief.

"It can be [their time]," Luiz told the Daily Mail. "I'll tell you one thing about England, the people never believe.

"It is alright sometimes to think, 'we can get to the quarter-finals, the semi-finals,' but come on, expect more, this a fantastic generation.

"You have a mix of experienced players, young players, amazing talent. Why not? Why don't you believe? Why doesn't everyone say, 'we can go there and win?'"

England will discover their World Cup group in the draw on Friday.
