Wayne Rooney: 'I want more than 50 goals'

England captain Wayne Rooney has claimed that he wants to "kick on" once he has reached the milestone of 50 goals for his nation.

The Manchester United skipper equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's England record of 49 goals in Saturday's 6-0 win over San Marino.

The 29-year-old has the chance to become the outright leader tomorrow when the Three Lions take on Switzerland in their Euro 2016 qualifier at Wembley.

"It would be nice to do it at Wembley - an iconic stadium, then move on and focus on the team again," Rooney told reporters. "If it happens tomorrow then great. If not, it won't concern me.

"I feel I've got a lot of games left to play for England. I'd be disappointed if I ended on 50 goals - I want to kick on."

England's victory at the weekend secured the nation's place in next summer's tournament.
