Luke Shaw happy with "dominant" England Under-21s win

England Under-21s full-back Luke Shaw believes that his side were "dominant" in their 3-0 win over Finland Under-21s last night.

England Under-21s left-back Luke Shaw has expressed his belief that his side dominated their match against Finland Under-21s last night.

England cruised to a 3-0 win in their European Championship qualifier, leaving them three points clear at the top of their group with a game in hand over both second and third.

Shaw played a big part in the second goal of the night, and he believes that the red card shown to Finland's Patrick O'Shaughnessy in the 70th minute gave him more licence to roam down the left flank.

"It was very dominant. We knew from when we played them out in Finland that it was going to be a hard game," the 18-year-old is quoted as saying by PA.

"But we knew when we play at our ground that we take full control and I think we did that today. Obviously in the first half I was told to stay back a bit because sometimes when we lost the ball my space was free.

"But in the second half they went down to 10 men and it allowed me to get forward more."

England face San Marino Under-21s in their next outing on Tuesday, but Shaw admitted that he would prefer to score his first senior goal for his club Southampton rather than for his country.

"Obviously we have got San Marino on Tuesday so you never know what might happen then. But I hope [my first goal] will be for Saints. I want to score at home," he added.

England Under-21s beat San Marino Under-21s 4-0 last time they met.
