Roy Hodgson: 'England must stay grounded after Germany win'

England boss Roy Hodgson describes Saturday's win over Germany as his "best" result since taking over four years ago, but warns that his group must not get carried away.

Roy Hodgson has warned his players to "remain humble" after picking up what he described as the best win since taking over as England manager in 2012.

The Three Lions produced a stunning comeback to overcome world champions Germany 3-2 in Berlin on Saturday evening, putting down a real marker ahead of this summer's European Championship.

Breakthrough stars Dele Alli and Harry Kane impressed in particular at the Olympic Stadion, helping England to battle back from two goals down, but Hodgson is wary not to get too carried away following the friendly triumph.

"You always hope your best night is ahead of you," he is quoted as saying by The Sun. "I'm rather hoping there will be one of them ahead of me. But it is my best night [as England manager] so far.

"It's important for us to remain humble in these moments but it was a great performance. It was good to see the players play their way back into the game.

"It showed character, but also a lot of quality in terms of our passing, poise and movement."

England are back in action on Tuesday night when taking on the Netherlands at Wembley.
