Frank Lampard says that he is relishing the chance to take on world champions Spain at Wembley.

Frank Lampard has revealed that he is relishing the chance to face Spain at Wembley, saying that the experience will be "fantastic".

Lampard is in line to be named England captain due to John Terry being left out of the starting lineup.

"Spain are a great team with so many great players, so the experience of taking them on at Wembley will be fantastic for us," the 33-year-old told The Sun.

"It will be a terrific test against such a quality side and such brilliant individuals.

"But if we can put in a top performance it can give us a real boost for what's in store at the European Championship finals next summer."

Lampard was part of the last England team to beat Spain when the sides clashed at Villa Park in 2001.

In that game, England came away with a 3-0 victory, but Lampard says that it will take a lot to beat the world champions this time around.

"Yes I know what it takes to win against them, so I know it can be done," Lampard said.

"But I've also come out on the wrong side of them too so I'm also under no illusions over how difficult it will be."

The last time England hosted Spain was a friendly at Old Trafford in 2007, when Spain won 1-0.
