Kane hails England competition

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has talked up the competition for places in the national side after earning his first call-up to the England squad on Thursday.

Kane had bagged 26 goals this season before his inclusion earlier this week, and the Spurs man fired in three more as Mauricio Pochettino's men beat Leicester City 4-3 on Saturday.

"I can't wait. It has been a dream to be called up but obviously I want to go and play," Kane told the Daily Mail.

"There is great competition for places and hopefully I can just do my best whilst I am away and see what happens.

"There is great competition and I have to keep working hard if I want to get a place in the team."

Former Three Lions captain Alan Shearer thinks that Kane should start against Lithuania and Italy next week.
