Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is reportedly willing to return to the England squad to replace John Terry, who retired from international football on Sunday.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is reportedly willing to return to the England set-up following the international retirement of John Terry.

The Chelsea captain, who is currently fighting an improper conduct charge by the Football Association for allegedly racially abusing Ferdinand's brother, Anton, announced his decision to step down from the Three Lions team on Sunday.

It is understood that Ferdinand, who was snubbed by manager Roy Hodgson at Euro 2012, has expressed his desire to return to the national team if called upon, according to The Express.

Hodgson is expected to name his latest England squad by the end of next week.
