Jack Butland ready for San Marino visit despite broken finger

Jack Butland plays down his broken finger and says that he is fit to face San Marino in England's forthcoming Euro 2016 qualifier if Joe Hart is unavailable.

Stoke City and England goalkeeper Jack Butland has revealed that a broken finger will not stop him from deputising for Joe Hart if necessary this weekend.

The 22-year-old was expected to be out until October after fracturing his right index finger two weeks ago, but he has coped with the pain and played in City's last two Premier League games.

Number one Hart is expected to continue in goal for Saturday's visit to San Marino in a Euro 2016 qualifier, but Butland is ready to play despite the injury if he is needed.

"It's going to be painful but it's not one I can't continue to play with," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"It's something that's manageable. I've been able to perform and train fine.

"I have got me a special glove that protects the finger, and it's not in my mind at all. It's something I'm able to ignore and get on with playing."

Victory would see the Three Lions preserve their flawless record in qualifying with seven wins from seven and book their spot in the finals next summer.
