How England could line up against Montenegro

How England could line up against Montenegro

England face Montenegro in their Euro 2020 qualifier on Monday night, having begun their campaign with a dominant win over Czech Republic.

Raheem Sterling netted a hat-trick as the Three Lions registered a 5-0 triumph at Wembley Stadium on Friday night, a result which leaves Gareth Southgate's side at the top of Group A.

However, Southgate has acknowledged that he may opt to make a number of changes to his first XI for the game at the Podgorica City Stadium.

Below, Sports Mole predicts how the World Cup semi-finalists may line up for their final match ahead of the UEFA Nations League semi-finals in June.

Eric Dier has already withdrawn from the squad with a hip injury, and that could result in Declan Rice being handed his first start after switching allegiances from Republic of Ireland.

Nine of the squad are with clubs who remain in European competition, and Southgate could take that into account when selecting his side in the coming days.

Kyle Walker could be replaced by Kieran Trippier at right-back, while Ross Barkley is in contention to replace Dele Alli, with the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder having come through an hour on Friday evening.

Jordan Henderson may keep his place in central midfield, while Southgate could choose to stick with the front three of Sterling, Jadon Sancho and Harry Kane.

However, James Ward-Prowse, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Callum Wilson are all in contention to play some part in the game.
