Peter Shilton: 'Joe Hart must improve concentration or risk England drop'

Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton warns current national stopper Joe Hart to improve his concentration or face being dropped from the Three Lions' starting XI.

Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton has called on Joe Hart to improve his concentration or face being dropped from the Three Lions starting XI.

The Manchester City stopper failed to save a straightforward Gareth Bale free kick as England fell a goal behind against Wales in their Euro 2016 Group B clash on Thursday.

Although Roy Hodgson's side rallied round and clinched a 2-1 win in Lens, the record England cap-holder believes that Hart needs to make sure his concentration does not waver as the tournament progresses.

Shilton told Sky Sports News: "Joe's a very experienced goalkeeper and he'd be the first to admit that it was a shot that he should have saved easily. Alright, it dipped a little bit, but he didn't get across his goal quick enough.

"I know he also makes terrific saves, but I did think in that game, earlier on he dropped a routine cross and he didn't seem to have his concentration right, but he'll put that right for the next match.

"If Joe makes another bad error then Roy Hodgson would have to look at [dropping him]."

Hart is expected to remain in between the sticks for England as they wrap up the group stage with a fixture against Slovakia on Monday.
