Steven Gerrard believes that Ashley Young will be a big player for England at Euro 2012.

England captain Steven Gerrard is adamant that midfielder Ashley Young can be the nation's lethal weapon at Euro 2012.

Young scored the only goal of the game as the Three Lions beat Norway on Saturday in Roy Hodgson's first game in charge.

The Manchester United winger played up front alongside Reds striker Andy Carroll in the absence of Wayne Rooney, and Gerrard believes that 26-year-old will be a key player for England at this summer's tournament.

Gerrard told talkSPORT: "Ashley is a good player and when he plays that withdrawn role off the front man and gets in between the lines, he is very dangerous and skilful.

"Opposing defenders and midfielders don't know how to pick him up because he finds the space so well.

"He is in good form for England and is scoring a lot of goals at the right time with the Euros coming up. We are really pleased with Ashley's performance and I thought him and Andy look decent together."

Young has scored four goals in his last four England appearances.
