Jermain Defoe to return from bereavement for England's group match with France

Defoe to return for France clash

Jermain Defoe is due to return to the England squad in time for the Three Lions' first Euro 2012 group clash against France on Monday following the death of his father.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker left England's camp in Poland yesterday after discovering the news of his father's passing.

The Football Association confirmed that the 29-year-old would return to Roy Hodgson's squad and a replacement would not need to be called on for the tournament.

While many believed that Defoe would head back to Eastern Europe after the Three Lions' first match, it is understood that the frontman will fly back to Krakow tomorrow.

Despite his presence, it is unlikely that Defoe will start the game due to missing a number of training sessions ahead of the match.
