Fabio Capello hits back at Wayne Rooney

Former England boss Fabio Capello has criticised Wayne Rooney for his performance in England's Euro 2012 quarter-final defeat to Italy.

Rooney, 26, had suggested that players found it easier to come to terms with new Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson's coaching drills, but Capello has hit back at the forward.

"After watching the last game, I think that Rooney only understands Scottish," the 66-year-old told Corriere dello Sport.

Capello left his post with England in February.
