England coach Mark Sampson relishing Women's World Cup challenge

England manager Mark Sampson insists that he is relishing the challenge of coaching the team at the Women's World Cup.

England manager Mark Sampson has admitted that he "just can't wait" for the team's opening match of the Women's World Cup.

The Lionesses get their campaign underway tomorrow against Group F rivals France in the Canadian city of Moncton.

Despite his side starting their tournament against one of the higher-ranked teams, Sampson insists that he is relishing the challenge ahead.

"I was born to do this, born to lead a team at a major football tournament, and if that means no sleep or lots of sleep I'm ready. I'm excited and just can't wait," the 32-year-old told Sky Sports News.

"What others think of this team doesn't bother me. It's good that internally we think and know how good we are and that there is more to come, that we haven't peaked."

Sampson took charge of the England women's team in 2013, replacing Hope Powell.
