Coventry suspend Deegan over IRA comments

Coventry City have suspended midfielder Gary Deegan for two weeks following a pro-IRA comment he posted on Twitter.

The Irishman has been disciplined after tweeting "Up the IRA" on his official account on the social networking site.

Coventry have confirmed the suspension and announced that a full investigation will take place into why the comment was made.

A statement on the Sky Blues' website said: "Neither the club or the player will be making any further statements while the investigation is ongoing."

Deegan joined Coventry from League of Ireland club Bohemians in January 2010.
