Chievo sink Pescara late on

Both sides missed good chances in the first half to open the scoring, with Cyril Thereau coming closest after seeing his low shot saved by Ivan Pelizzoli.

Emmanuel Cascione was twice set up from close range, but the forward could not direct a pair of headers on target.

The home side were punished for their wasteful finishing late on by a clinical Chievo counter.

Substitute Adrian Stoian was on hand to break the deadlock, finishing a sweeping break with a curling shot that went straight into the top corner.

In stoppage time Thereau made all three points safe for the Flying Donkeys after turning home with a measured effort.

Defeat for Pescara keeps them five points from safety, while Chievo are now 10 points clear of the drop zone.
