Chievo edge out Atalanta

Chievo have registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Atalanta at home in Serie A.

The visitors had a chance early on in Verona when Cristian Raimondi took an attempt on goal from close range, but Stefano Sorrentino made a good save.

Giuseppe De Luca provided two good crosses in quick succession, but there was no Atalanta player to turn them into the Chievo goal.

Those misses came to haunt Atalanta on 37 minutes when Cyril Thereau picked out Isaac Cofie from the left wing to smash home his volley.

Thereau himself came close to making it 2-0 just after the break as he found himself in a one-on-one situation with Atalanta goalkeeper Andrea Consigli, but failed to hit the target.

The Flying Donkeys imposed themselves on the game thereafter, with De Luca and Ivan Radovanovic being forced to try their luck from distance in vain.
