Brazil defender David Luiz feels that England's lack of a winning mentality has stopped them clinching a major tournament in the last 47 years.

Brazil defender David Luiz believes that England's lack of a winning mentality makes it "difficult" for them to win major competitions.

The Three Lions last won a major trophy in 1966 when they lifted the World Cup after beating West Germany at Wembley in the final.

Luiz told The Sun: "England do not win titles. The mentality of winning a tournament is not there and that is difficult.

"The problem is they do not win anything. I have watched them in previous tournaments and things have not always gone well for them."

Brazil and England face off in a friendly match at the Maracana Stadium later today.
