Sheffield Wednesday close to Sam Hutchinson capture?

Former Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson is close to signing for Sheffield Wednesday, according to a report.

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly closing in on the signing of former Chelsea defender Sam Hutchinson.

The 24-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Stamford Bridge earlier this summer.

Owls manager Stuart Gray has confirmed that the Championship club have made a bid for the player following a successful loan spell last season.

The former Chelsea man was forced to retire earlier in his career due to a persistent knee injury, but he has been linked with several sides after making his comeback to football.

According to Sky Sports News, Hutchinson is undergoing a medical at Hillsborough with a view to signing a permanent deal.

Hutchinson made 10 appearances for Wednesday last term.
