Romelu Lukaku coy on future plans

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku plays down speculation surrounding his long-term plans by insisting that he is only concentrating on the immediate future.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has refused to comment on his future beyond this season.

The Belgium international has impressed at Goodison Park during his season-long loan from Chelsea, scoring 14 goals this term.

The Blues are understood to be keen to keep the powerful forward, while Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a move.

Lukaku told the Liverpool Echo: "I'm trying not to look too far ahead for now. I'm still two years under contract at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"This is a team that is growing and for me I just want to help Everton instead of thinking about myself and the next step.

"There are so many things on the horizon like big games against Man United and City, then the World Cup, so I have to give it a place in my head but not focus on it. For now it's just helping Everton finish fourth and then we'll see."

Lukaku spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, scoring 17 goals during his stay with the Baggies.
