How Chelsea could line up against Sheffield United

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino must factor in three fresh injury concerns for Saturday's Premier League clash with Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge.

As well as losing the game to Everton last weekend, Chelsea lost all of Reece James (hamstring), Robert Sanchez (knee) and Marc Cucurella (ankle) at various points in that 2-0 Goodison Park defeat.

Chelsea have confirmed that all three will now face spells in the infirmary, where they are welcomed by Romeo Lavia (ankle), Trevoh Chalobah (thigh), Lesley Ugochukwu (unspecified), Wesley Fofana (knee), Ben Chilwell (thigh), Noni Madueke (unspecified) and Carney Chukwuemeka (knee).

Christopher Nkunku (knee) and Malo Gusto (tendon) are both back in full training, and the former is now in line for his debut, but should Gusto not be risked from the off, Axel Disasi will be expected to step in at right-back.

Disasi being shifted across the backline would open the door for Thiago Silva to return alongside Benoit Badiashile, while Levi Colwill is primed to step in for Cucurella, and the back four will be protecting full Premier League debutant Djordje Petrovic.

The hosts' backline is set to undergo a major reshuffle, but the midfield pairing of Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo remains untouchable, while Conor Gallagher is set to don the captain's armband in place of the stricken James.

Cole Palmer's spot in attack is safe, but Mykhaylo Mudryk and Armando Broja are in danger of losing their places to Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson, who has apparently escaped retrospective action for a set-to with Everton's Nathan Patterson last weekend.

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Petrovic; Disasi, Silva, Badiashile, Colwill; Fernandez, Caicedo; Sterling, Gallagher, Palmer; Jackson
