Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino believes that Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez is one of the best in the world.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Chelsea boss Rafael Benitez as one of the best managers in the world despite guiding his side to a 2-1 win over the Blues this afternoon.

Benitez has received plenty of criticism since taking over from Roberto Di Matteo as Chelsea boss, and the Spaniard's team selection was again called into question today as he left out a host of first-team players.

However, Pochettino believes that Benitez deserves respect for what he has accomplished in his career so far.

"I have a lot of sympathy for Rafael Benitez's position. He is one of the best managers in the world and he has my full respect for what he has achieved in football," he said.

"Victories like those today prove that we are on the right path. It is very important for the confidence of my players and especially the people surrounding our club - the technical staff."

The win lifts Southampton up to 12th in the Premier League table, four points clear of the relegation zone.
