Mark Hughes backs Chelsea for quadruple

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes says that he would not be at all surprised if Jose Mourinho guides Chelsea to a clean sweep of trophies this season.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has claimed that tonight's opponents Chelsea are well capable of winning an unprecedented quadruple this season.

Jose Mourinho's side sit top of the Premier League, and they beat Derby County last week to set up a League Cup semi-final clash with Liverpool in January.

The Blues also have a last-16 Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain to look forward to, while an FA Cup encounter with Watford beckons in January.

Consequently, Hughes claims that he would not be in the least surprised if the West Londoners managed a clean sweep of trophies this season.

"Nobody else has done it, but they've got the potential to do it," he told ESPN. "I would have to say yes, they are strong enough.

"There will be some very good teams who will try and stand in the way but I don't think where we are sat today you could argue that they've got no chance because that would be incorrect.

"They have a chance, a better chance than most teams. The talk of winning every trophy, maybe in-house they believe that themselves. It wouldn't surprise me if they did."

Stoke sit 13th in the table ahead of tonight's clash at the Britannia Stadium.
