Chelsea striker Diego Costa to contest FA charge for 'stamp' against Liverpool?

Chelsea striker Diego Costa is reportedly contesting his FA charge for an alleged stamp against Liverpool.

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has reportedly decided to contest the Football Association's charge of violent conduct.

The Spain international was charged by the English governing body for allegedly stamping on Emre Can's ankle against Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

The incident, which was not seen at the time by referee Michael Oliver, occurred during Chelsea's 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, which sent the West London outfit through to the Capital One Cup final.

Prior to the charge being issued, manager Jose Mourinho defended his striker by claiming that any 'stamp' was accidental.

According to PA, Costa, who committed a similar incident on Martin Skrtel during the match, will contest the charge, which carries a three-game ban if he is found guilty.

Earlier this afternoon, Chelsea confirmed that they have cancelled tomorrow's press conference previewing this weekend's clash against Manchester City.
