Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu admits that he has been left disappointed with his lack of game time while on loan at RB Leipzig.

Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu has acknowledged that he has had to deal with 'frustrating times' during his loan spell at RB Leipzig.

While the youngster starred against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League in February, the 19-year-old has been restricted to just two starts and five substitute appearances in all competitions.

Despite his lack of game time, however, the Wales international has suggested that he will benefit from his time with the Bundesliga outfit.

Speaking to The Athletic, Ampadu said: "There's been a lot of frustration at times. However, I've learned a lot through those frustrations which will only help me later in my career.

"I've not played as many games as I'd have liked to but in the games I've played in, I think I've done reasonably well. That'll give me confidence, but I've things to learn from.

"If I'm honest, it's not been as good as I hoped, not all that I wanted it to be. But I hope technically I've improved and, tactically, I've now played under another manager."

Blues boss Frank Lampard is expected to considering keeping Ampadu at Stamford Bridge next season.
