Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he is not prioritising any one competition and is taking things "game by game" at this early stage of the season.
A shock 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Saturday saw the Blues' hopes of retaining the Premier League title take a severe knock as they fell nine points off the pace with just eight games played.
In the Champions League, Conte's side sit top of their group after winning both games to date, and with Roma visiting Stamford Bridge tomorrow night, the Italian has included four youth players in his training squad.
"I think we have to go game by game, we are in October not March," Conte told reporters this afternoon when asked if he was prioritising competitions.
"It's impossible to take a decision or a risk. Now for us it is important to go game by game. We have to play every three days and it is not simple.
"In this moment we are very thin, always the same players [play]. There is this risk for injuries, I hope not. The best way is to go game by game and decide which is the best formation and then to decide to take risk or not."
After the clash with the Serie A side, Chelsea welcome Watford to the Bridge on Saturday before hosting Everton in the EFL Cup four days later.
