Cameroon qualify for group stages after seeing off Switzerland

Cameroon come from behind to beat Swiss

Cameroon came from a goal down to beat Switzerland 2-1 and progress to the knockout stages of the Women's World Cup on Tuesday evening.

Switzerland started strongly and Ana Maria Crnogorcevic gave her country an early lead, converting in from close range.

Ramona Bachmann and Fabienne Humm then fluffed some promising chances to extend Switzerland's lead before the break.

Gabrielle Onguene equalised for Cameroon with a shot from the centre of the box, before Madeleine Ngono Mani put them in front with an edged header from just in front of goal.

Crnogorcevic had a glorious chance to poke in a freeckick at the back post but failed to get a foot to it with no Cameroonian close to challenging her.

The result sees Cameroon make it out of the group stage in their first ever World Cup, while Switzerland have to wait on results from the other groups.
