Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho waiting for Brazil chance

Coutinho waiting for Brazil chance

Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho has insisted that he is determined to grasp an opportunity to cement a place in the Brazil national team.

The 22-year-old missed out on a spot in the World Cup in his homeland last summer, but his impressive performances for Liverpool this season has resulted in a call-up to Dunga's latest squad.

Despite his strong showing at Anfield, the playmaker was an unused substitute in Thursday's 3-1 victory over France in Paris.

"Whenever I'm called up, it's like the first time," Coutinho said in LFCTV's new documentary Coutinho: Home from Home.

"It's a great honour to wear the Brazilian shirt, which thousands of people dream of wearing one day. I want to honour it whenever I have the opportunity. It means a lot to me.

"My goal is to look for my own space. I believe that is everybody's goal. I know we have other great players, players who have had a great impact on the team. I'm looking for my chance slowly."

Coutinho will have another chance to feature for his country as Brazil take on Chile on Sunday.
