Borussia Dortmund tighten grip on Group D

Borussia Dortmund ease to victory with a 3-0 win over Anderlecht in the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund tightened their grip on Group D after a comfortable 3-0 win away to Anderlecht in the Champions League this evening.

The visitors were a goal up within the first five minutes, and it was Italy striker Ciro Immobile who put BVB ahead.

Immobile, who also scored against Arsenal in the first round of matches, struck when he tucked away an effort after a clever through-ball from Shinji Kagawa.

The hosts had a goal correctly chalked off minutes later for offside before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang spurned a glorious chance to double the lead.

The Gabon international somehow failed to hit the target from all of five yards out after placing his shot into the side-netting.

Kevin Grosskreutz thought he had doubled the lead for Jurgen Klopp's men on 25 minutes, but the versatile German international had just strayed offside before lashing the ball in from a tight angle.

Adrian Ramos was introduced as a substitute on 67 minutes and the forward made his mark immediately to double the lead.

Lukasz Piszczek delivered a cross into the box and Ramos was on hand to turn the ball home to give BVB some breathing space for the final 20 minutes.

Aleksandar Mitrovic spurned a good chance to reduce the deficit with around 15 minutes remaining when he fired his effort off the post, and moments later it was game over.

Ramos was played in by Aubamayeng and the Colombian kept his composure despite losing his balance to poke home and secure the points for Klopp's side.
