Mats Hummels out for Germany

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has been ruled out of the Germany squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Republic of Ireland and Sweden.

The 23-year-old picked up a hip injury in his club's 1-1 draw with Manchester City last week, but it is a separate foot injury that has ruled him out of the action.

Hummels has recently admitted a desire to leave Dortmund "one day" in search of pastures new.

The German has 22 international caps to his name.
