Phillips: 'Bolton won't rush manager search'

Bolton Wanderers academy director Jimmy Phillips has admitted that the club need a manager that can take the club forward.

Phillips and Sammy Lee have been placed in temporary charge by Bolton chairman Phil Gartside and the 46-year-old has revealed that Gartside is in no rush to bring a new manager in to replace Owen Coyle.

Phillips said: "Phil Gartside asked myself and Sammy Lee to take charge of first-team affairs and he's in no rush to appoint a new manager.

"The next manager is going to be a very important decision and it needs to be one that takes the club forward."

Phillips made 221 appearances for Bolton between 1993 and 2001.
