Bolton wages unlikely to be paid on time

Bolton Wanderers have admitted that employees may not receive their wages for January on time.

Staff at the financially-stricken Championship side were forced to contend with a similar scenario in November and December.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Bolton Wanderers has stated that due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the club's current funding position, it has been unable to confirm to its staff today that they will receive their wages for the month of January on the due dates.

"Every effort continues to be made by the board of directors and its advisers to pay staff and also resolve the longer term funding issue during what remains a difficult and challenging time for the football club."

According to Bolton News, the problems have affected around 300 full and part-time administration and managerial staff.

It is believed that funds are usually due in accounts by the 21st day of every month.
